Poem: Reality is the Mystery
Sr. Nicole, Nuns of New Skete
This poem was published in the St. Nina Quarterly, Volume 3, No. 4.
Reality reaches into mystery
tugging on an apron’s string
Knotted round about your fleshy waist.
We are bound but boundless.
Come along.
Let us try and touch nothing now.
Hearing everything silent.
Can you smell your odor of sanctity
beyond materiality?
Seeing you I see myself.
Together tasting bread and wine.
I think it’s compassion-flavored wine.
O detached scholar -
O discerning diner -
Struggle for your faith in truth
and the truth in your faith.
I choose this.
The "Yes" is faith
and reality teaches mystery.
